Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas John Elway and Roger Clemens, along with World Series of Poker Champions Jennifer Harman and Chris Moneymaker, hosted this invitational all-star charity poker tournament where guests had the exciting opportunity to play poker with some of the world’s greatest athletes, champion poker players and major Hollywood celebrities. The tournament was hosted to support a number of charitable foundations of famous sports heroes
The Legends Celebrity Invitational Charity Poker Tournament welcomed major Hollywood celebrities including Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Josh Duhamel and James Lesure of Las Vegas, Alison Janney, and Richard Schiff of the West Wing, Kate Walsh of Grey’s Anatomy, Joe Mantegna, Richard Kind, and Cindy Margolis, as well as Hall of Fame Athletes from the National Hockey League, National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and former Olympic Hockey Team members.
Notable poker professionals playing in the event included Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein, Mike Sexton, Todd Brunson, Chris Moneymaker, Gus Hansen, Hoyt Corkins, Eric Lindgren, Chau Giang, Marco Traniello, and Jennifer Harman.
The Legends Celebrity Invitational Charity Poker Tournament featured a poker tournament followed by a fashion show hosted by Playboy Intimates. Friday also saw The Palms Casino Resort unveiling The Mint, an all new, high roller gaming salon and lounge, with a party hosted by Jenny McCarthy.
While this invitation-only poker tournament presented guests with a once in a lifetime opportunity to play poker in the company of world-class athletes, poker players and celebrities, the event also helped raise much-needed funds to support three prestigious charities: The Dan Marino Foundation, which offers integrated intervention services for children with special needs-medical, emotional, and/or behavioral; The John Elway Foundation, created to provide support and funding to America's heroes and their families, striving to encourage American patriotism and assist those heroes who contribute to and defend our country's freedoms, past and present; and The Roger Clemens Foundation, helping to fulfill the needs, ease the suffering and encourage and support children from all walks of life
The buy-in for the tournament was $2,500.
The only noted pro poker player to make the cut was WPT Host and Commentator, Mike Sexton. The eventual winner of the event was Leren Rustem.
