LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A San Francisco woman, visiting Las Vegas to celebrate her father's birthday, won a $1,490,945 Wheel of Fortune® dollar MegaJackpot® early this morning at The Palazzo Resort.
The
Wheel of Fortune slot machine 30-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, also proved it pays to be patient.
"My mom and I found this machine when we arrived at the hotel earlier in the week and started playing," she said. "It had been lucky for us as it kept giving us small jackpots on the spin of the wheel. So, we came back this morning to play it again. I'm glad we did."
When the jackpot hit, the woman thought it was a prank and not really happening. But a man sitting next to her said it was a real jackpot and that he had won on a similar machine a year ago.
The winner said she plans to share the winnings with her family.
Winning at The Palazzo, or its sister property The Venetian Resort, is not surprising. Within the past two months, there have been three MegaJackpot® hits at The Palazzo and, this past March, a 36-year-old woman won over $3 million on a multi-level progressive jackpot Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition™ penny video slot machine.
