Record Turn-out in Iowa for HPT Poker Tournament

Jason Fisth wins the championship at the Heartland Poker Tour held in Iowa.

The Championship event was won by Jason Fish, of Cedar Rapids. For his victory, Fish collected $82,545, another new HPT 1^st Place record, and a seat in the HPT Tournament of Champions at the end of the year. “This has got to be one of life’s peak experiences!” exclaimed the winner.

The final table, played Sunday, March 18, was filmed for TV, will be shown this fall season. The Heartland Poker Tour is one of the top three televised poker productions in the country.

HPT Producer Todd Anderson gave much credit to its first-time host, the Meskwaki Casino/Hotel. “All the participants, the friends and family members were delighted with the luxurious hotel and casino, Anderson said. In addition to craps and roulette in the casino, “they really liked the new poker room with its many large flat screens on which everyone could watch the NCAA college basketball tournament competition.”

The Heartland Poker Tour now travels to the Majestic Star Casino, in Gary, Indiana, where attendance and prize money are expected eclipse even the new Iowa records. Players are encouraged to get in the event early as it “will assuredly sell-out,” says Anderson.
