Nooksack Northwood Casino Opens

WASHINGTON -- As reported by the Bellingham Herald: "Gamblers crowded the gaming floor Thursday morning minutes after the Nooksack Indian Tribe's new Nooksack Northwood Casino opened for business
Northwoods Casino is now open for business.  at 10 a.m.

"As hard-hatted landscape crews put the finishing touches on landscaping and the building façade, patrons busied themselves at the casino's 450 electronic bingo machines, few of which were idle by 11 a.m., undeterred by a gauntlet of anti-casino signs posted by neighbors along the roads leading to the new casino.

"...The new casino's bingo machines bear little resemblance to old-fashioned bingo cards. The bright video screens feature whirling symbols, much like slot machines..."

"Casino general manager Leonard Habig said he was pleased by the big turnout for day one, but he acknowledged it will take a lot of effort to keep the customers coming back to its out-of-the-way location..."
