Ohio Poll Shows 60 Percent in Favor of Legal Casino Gambling
Cleveland, OH - As reported by Thenews-messenger.com: "A new Ohio Poll shows that 73 percent of Ohioans favor allowing medicinal marijuana, and 60 percent favor making casino gambling legal. Nearly
that many, 58 percent, would approve of a casino in a large city nearby.
Looking at the toll the economy has taken in Toledo -- where the auto industry's slide has idled the Jeep factory and could do even more -- and Cleveland -- home to Ohio's largest bank, National City, which was taken over by PNC -- a gambling casino doesn't look too bad.
And a group, Ohio Jobs and Growth, is counting on that kind of thinking.
Adam Kuhn, a field representative for the group, has visited commissioners in Ottawa and Sandusky counties to gather support for a ballot initiative for four standalone casinos in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo, employing a total of 20,000 people -- 13,000 in construction and 7,000 permanent positions in the casinos.
