MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- As reported by the Connecticut Day: "With the phone lines open and the Web site ready, nearly 200 people Monday reserved rooms at MGM Grand at Foxwoods, which is scheduled
MGM Grand at Foxwoods to open in mid-May.
"The starting rate for a double occupancy room at the new, 825-room luxury hotel is $295 per night, with suites ranging from $325 during the week to $495 on weekends. Monday was the first day guests could make reservations at the hotel.
"Foxwoods spokesman Saverio Mancini said 140 reservations were made in the first hour and 190 reservations had been made by mid-afternoon.
"...Mancini said one group has already booked a conference for the Sunday of the opening weekend, and there are others that have reserved conference space in the remaining months of 2008.
"...May 17 will mark the official opening of the $700 million facility..."
